Ovens, Furnaces & Boilers Maintenance

We at Metro Services believe that safety is of the utmost importance. Safety is achieved by a combination of three steps. The first is knowledge. You have to understand how something works to know whether or not it is defective. The second is a sound maintenance routine. You have to take your knowledge and apply it to your equipment on a regular basis. The final and most important step deals with your attitude. You have to genuinely care about the welfare of yourself and others around you. Metro Services has developed a program using the following 17-point checklist, which will provide a safer, more reliable combustion system for you. Our program comes with a detailed field service report including burner settings, switch settings, operating temperatures, safety results, and recommendations. By enrolling in our program you will also receive a 10 percent discount off of any of our combustion products. You can use your discount for new igniters, flame safeguards, actuators, or even burners. It truly is a win-win situation for you as you are complying with the NFPA's guideline to perform an annual safety examination, and you are receiving a 10 percent discount on parts you are already buying.

1. Visual inspection of all components. This is to ensure two things. The first is to ensure that everything is installed as it should be, and the second is to check for dirt accumulation. This includes but is not limited to the burner integrals, air and gas piping, filters and strainers.

2. Simulate air failure to prove Combustion Air Switch.

3. Simulate low gas pressure to prove Low Gas Pressure Switch.

4. Simulate high gas pressure to prove High Gas Pressure Switch.

5. Simulate excessive temperature to prove High Temperature Limit Switch.

6. Simulate flame failure to prove Flame Safeguard.

7. Simulate circulation air failure to prove Circulation Air Switch.

8. Simulate exhaust air failure to prove Exhaust Switch.

9. Simulate any other switch or interlock that is installed in your system in order to prove its proper working order. These switches include but are not limited to Lowfire Start Switches, High Fire Purge Switches, Low Water Float Switches, Door Switches, Speed Switches, and etc.

10. Leak test all safety shutoff valves.

11. All manual gas cocks will be tested for proper operation.

12. Electrical contacts will be inspected for dirt and signs of wear.

13. Pilot and Burner pressures will be checked for proper settings and adjusted if necessary.

14. The igniter will be cleaned.

15. The flame rod/UV Scanner/IR Scanner will be cleaned.

16. The process controller will be tested to verify that it takes the burner from lowfire to highfire.

17. All mechanical fastening hardware will be tested for tightness.
