The Exothermics Air to Air Industrial Aluminum Heat Exchanger is built to handle the toughest applications with ease, and that's because it's constructed of the highest quality aluminum. A single sheet of .025" non-embossed heavy gauge aluminum is stamped and folded to form a one piece heat transfer core featuring 1/2" W-I-D-E plate spacing. The core is enclosed in an 8 guage aluminum casing, complete with aluminum extrusions and angles for duct connections.

It's fixed plate, counterflow design allows the hot airstream to pass through the exchanger from end to end and the cold airstream to pass through in counterflow.

The two segregated airstreams flow through individual passages formed by the plates within the exchanger, allowing the cold inlet air to enter at the end where the exhaust air exits, and to leave at the end where the hot exhaust air enters. The plate separating the two airstreams acts as the heat transfer medium.

Exothermics Cross-Flow recuperators are compact tubular air-to-air heat exchangers designed to recover waste heat from industrial exhaust gases. The recovered heat is used to preheat combustion air for the system's burners, thereby increasing fuel efficiency.

Cross-Flow recuperator tubes are high grade nickel-chromium alloy and stainless steel enclosed in an insulated carbon steel housing.

High Temperature Insulated Heat RecuperatorHIGH TEMPERATURE INSULATED HEAT RECUPERATOR

The High Temperature Insulated Heat Recuperator "IR" achieves top heat transfer efficiency by exposing a maximum surface area to the largest possible amount of hot gas. The unit uses a proprietary counterflow design that produces improved heat transfer between two airstreams. Surface exposure is increased by corrugating heat transfer plates to achieve a sinusoidal wave pattern. The plates are spaced 1/2" apart for maximum air flow and minimum pressure drop. This design creates air flow turbulence as the air passes counterflow through the unit, maximizing heat transfer.

As your process air enters the unit, it is directed over the corrugated plates in a counterflow direction to the heated air. Heat from the waste stream is absorbed by the plates and transferred to the cooler airstream... then exits the unit as recovered heat you can reuse or recycle. Airstream temperature can be as high as 1500ºF. The unit is equipped with all welded bellows type internal expansion joints of a high-temperature alloy. This allows for the expected growth when operating at high temperatures. Four inches of high-temperature insulation reduces heat loss through the exterior stainless steel casing.

Get the added effectiveness provided by the 4" of high-temperature insulation with this recuperator.

Designed for applications up to 1500ºF, the insulated recuperator is constructed from special high-temperature alloys. The all welded assembly protects from airstream cross contamination. The insulation between the inner and outer casing of the unit greatly diminishes heat loss.

Roll-formed metallic internal expansion joints allow for the thermal expansion that accompanies high-temperature operation. Optional airflow configurations are available to fit the needs of your high- temperature thermal incinerators, furnaces and combustion preheat systems.

Individual plates are continuously welded to form a series of passages with a minimum 1/2" spacing between plates. Primary seal welds at each end of the unit separate the two airstreams, making the unit virtually leak-free. By utilizing different plate sizes, the heat transfer effectiveness range is 50% to +70%.

Exothermics Extern-a-Therm recuperators are tubular air-to-air heat exchangers designed to recover waste heat from industrial exhaust gases. The recovered heat is used to preheat combustion air for the system's burners, thereby increasing fuel efficiency.

Cross-Flow recuperator tubes are constructed of grade nickel-chromium stainless steel mounted in an insulated carbon steel housings lined with insulation suited to the application.

Three different housing configurations can be supplied to accommodate various mounting arrangements. The recuperator may also be rotated within the housing to position the air and exhaust connections as required.

The Exothermics Mini Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger is the answer to heat recovery needs in systems with low air volumes. Designed specifically for systems with SCFM volumes of 100 to 500 and temperatures up to 1200ºF, the Mini Heat Exchanger provides optimum heat recovery. The removable access cover on the exhaust airstream makes it possible to clean the unit and maintain peak effectiveness.

The Exothermics Mini Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger is a fully welded assembly that provides structural and airstream integrity. This is accomplished with features such as a continuously welded primary seal that separates the two airstreams and fully welded end seals. Constructed of stainless steel alloy, the Mini Heat Exchanger provides efficient heat recovery on applications including thermal and catalytic oxidizers, boilers, dryers, ovens, furnaces and kilns.

Stainless steel heat exchangers are available in both SP and HP series and in a size and performance efficiency to match your specific application... whether an oven, dryer, or indirect heater. Our range of exchangers permits you to match the right exchanger and attain the optimum efficiency for your operation.

High heat transfer effectiveness is produced by corrugating the heat transfer plates to achieve a sinusoidal wave pattern. The corrugated surface creates air flow turbulence as the air passes through the unit. Heat transfer is further enhanced by using a counterflow design. Plate sizes vary from 12", 36", 42" and 48", with unit lengths of 50", 74" and 98".

As your process air enters the unit, it's directed over the corrugated plates counterflow to the heated air. Heat from the waste air is absorbed by the plates and transferred to the cooler airstream... then exits the unit as recovered heat you can reuse or recycle.

SP Series
The Standard Performance series has transfer plates spaced 1/2" apart. It combines a compact design with the structural integrity of stainless steel. The SP is available in two models:

SP-VT models (Very High Temperature) models are all stainless steel, built to withstand air-stream temperatures up to 1200ºF.

SP-HT (High Temperature) models feature stainless steel built to withstand airstream temperatures up to 1000ºF.

HP Series
The High Performance series has transfer plates spaced 3/8" apart, providing a higher heat transfer than the SP series of the same size. The HP is available in two models:

HP-VT (Very High Temperature) models are all stainless steel to withstand airstream temperatures up to 1200ºF.

HP-HT (High Temperature) models feature stainless steel plates to withstand airstream temperatures up to 1000ºF.

Boundary Layer Breakdown
Exothermics Tubular Heat Recuperators have a proprietary tubular core design in which the placement of the heat recovery tubes assures a breakdown of air boundary layers in and around the tubes. The design creates a turbulent movement of the hot gas and process airstreams, resulting in more efficient heat transfer and optimum heat recovery.

Multi-Pass Designs
Crossflow and multiple pass designs are available. Multiple pass designs are used when the application requires greater effectiveness.

Units can be manufactured so that the multiple passes are on the shell side, where the gas stream passes over the tubes several times before exiting the recuperator. Other applications may require a multiple tube pass design.

Insulation
Various options are available. Our Tubular Heat Recuperators can be ordered without insulation or with external insulation when a hot flange connection is required. Where cold flange connections are involved, the unit is designed with internal ceramic fiber insulation.

Rugged Construction
Exothermics Tubular Heat Recuperators are all welded assemblies constructed from stainless steel or other high temperature alloys. Each unit is custom engineered, then carefully fabricated and quality tested by certified welders and experienced craftsmen. Where required, a mechanism for accommodating thermal expansion is provided. And because our tubular heat recuperators are of all welded construction, internal cross contamination is virtually eliminated.
